Market GLEAN Basket

Glean

Situated in The Community's parking lot, the Ada Village Farmers Market opened on Tuesday, June 22, and runs through September 28, noon - 6:00pm. For the second year, The Community is joining seven other Ada/Forest Hills churches in sponsoring and staffing the "Market GLEAN Basket - Healthy Food for Hungry People."

Shoppers are encouraged to buy a little extra from a vendor and donate it to the GLEAN Basket, and at the end of the day, vendors often donate unsold produce and food as well.  Monetary donations are also gladly accepted and the donated food and money contributions are divided between two local agencies; Flat River Outreach Ministries in Lowell, and God's Kitchen in Grand Rapids.  So, stop by the Farmers Market on Tuesday and give to GLEAN.

Missions @ The Community

The Community, an RCA Ministry in Ada, through a discernment process of information sharing and prayer, seeks to focus its global and local mission partnerships.  The partnerships are intended to be mutually enriching and transformative.  The deacons have discerned local partnerships with Clancy Street Ministries/Fellowship and Flat River Outreach Ministries.  The Global Mission Team has discerned partnerships with the Mescalero Apache Reformed Church in New Mexico and a Roma church in Eastern Europe.  The mission of each partner is listed below.  This packet contains additional information.

Clancy Street Ministries serves the diverse Belknap neighborhood (north of Spectrum Health) in downtown Grand Rapids.  The mission of CSM is to empower people and build a healthier community through a variety of developmental programs.  "In some a lack of hope breeds disrespect for self and others, while for some the sheer diversity makes it difficult to understand and accept others," says Steve Faas, Executive Director of CSM. "There is work to do in reconciling ourselves to each other so we can live together in a community that cares for each other and our children."
